Working with Ashley Wineland is always a dynamic experience, and being part of the team for her latest music video "Tumbleweed" was no exception. This project allowed me to dive into multiple roles—writing the treatment, co-directing the video, and capturing behind-the-scenes content. It was an unforgettable collaboration, combining creativity, teamwork, and the excitement of bringing Ashley's music to life.
Connecting the Creative Pieces
Produced by the legendary Marti Frederiksen—renowned for his work with Carrie Underwood, Ozzy Osborne, and Aerosmith. “Tumbleweed” is an unsettled romance, intense and consuming yet fleeting. The lyrics capture a love that blows in like a forceful wind, sweeping you off your feet only to move on just as quickly, leaving a trail of dust. This was not just about creating a visually appealing music video—it was about telling a story that resonated with Ashley’s Winelanders.
Co-Directing: Shaping the Vision
One of the highlights of this project was stepping into the role of co-director. Influencing the flow and mood of the video alongside Ashley and our Cinematographer, Joseph Mbah, was a thrilling challenge. We wanted to capture the energy of "Tumbleweed" with wide, sweeping shots and intimate close-ups that reflected both the song's movement and emotional depth. Collaborating on how to present Ashley’s vibrant personality and strong connection to her music was a rewarding creative endeavor.
Behind the Scenes: Capturing Moments in the Making
While directing was a major focus, I also took on the task of documenting the process through behind-the-scenes content. This allowed me to highlight the energy, laughter, and hard work that went into making this video. I was there to capture candid moments—Ashley prepping for takes, the crew adjusting lighting in the desert heat, and those impromptu bursts of creativity that only happen on set. These behind-the-scenes glimpses offer a more personal connection between Ashley and her fans, giving them a sneak peek into the artistry and dedication it takes to produce a music video.

As we wrapped up filming, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment.
